CallButler
An on-demand concierge service for tourists and expats. We are the human layer that gets things done in the age of AI.
What is CallButler—and how would you explain it to someone outside its industry?
CallButler offers on-demand concierge services for tourists and expats. Our team of local human agents helps you get things done, from restaurant reservations, ticket bookings, inquiries, and meeting arrangements to feeding your cat while you are away.
What happened that made you create CallButler?
CallButler started as a service to solve my own pain point. I have lived in Japan for many years, but I still cannot speak Japanese fluently. A few years ago, I needed to make a dental appointment by phone and had to explain everything to the clinic in my broken Japanese. It turned out to be an uncomfortable experience for both sides of the call. This was a task that could have been easily handled by any local Japanese person. I saw a business opportunity in this mismatch, which led me to create CallButler.

How does CallButler work from a customer’s point of view?
We want to make the customer experience as seamless as possible, which is why we bring our service directly to the platforms our users already use. Customers can simply send us their requests through Instagram, LINE, WhatsApp, email, or any other channel they prefer. We provide a quote, and the customer prepays for the service through our website. Our team then completes the task and deducts the required credits from the customer’s account. It is as simple as that. Customers only need to send us a message and wait for the task to be completed.
Who is behind CallButler?
Our team consists of three co-founders: Pasit Rojradtanasiri (Ton), CEO; Kazuaki Matsumoto (Joh), CTO; and Shihua Teng (Sika), COO.
Who gets the most value from CallButler?
Most of our current customers are inbound tourists and expats in Japan and Thailand. Many of them do not speak the local language and are unfamiliar with the local culture, so they often need additional support. They are very grateful that a service like CallButler exists to help them.
How did you find the first customer or committed user for CallButler?
We found our first customer through a Japan travel group on Facebook. Our next customers came from Japan-focused travel communities on Reddit.
What is the hardest challenge facing CallButler right now?
We want to accelerate our growth. Although we are currently growing at a slow and steady pace, our goal is to scale much faster.

What has building CallButler taught you that you wish you had known at the beginning?
